Sony is about to launch a Sony Vaio notebook with a touchscreen interface soon. A Sony executive confirmed the news in an interview with Laptop Mag.

This move has been made to take advantage of the touchscreen features of the Windows 7 platform. Its still not clear whether Sony will introduce the touchscreen interface with the Sony Vaio P or the Sony Vaio W.

The release of the Windows 7 platform in October is speculated to increase the competition in the touchscreen notebook market. At present, only convertible notebooks similar to the Asus Eee PC T101H are available in the market.
