BlackBerry Lookalike Fly Circle Launched

by on Jan.22, 2010, under Gadgets, Mobile

Fly Mobile has announced the launch and availability of its all new QWERTY key pad dual-SIM phone, the Fly Circle (model no.B430DS) in India.

It is being targeted as a device that supports multiple instant messaging networks and is social networking friendly as well, featuring Nimbuzz, Skype, Windows Live Messenger, GTalk, Yahoo!, AIM, MySpace, ICQ and others. At the heart of Nimbuzz is the live contact list – an always-on, hyper-connected, dynamic address book, enhanced with “real-time-presence” showing at a glance who’s online, offline, busy or away, their status messages, and social community activity.

Prem Kumar, Chief Executive Officer, Fly Mobile (India Operations), said, “Fly Circle has an unbeatable combination of dual-SIM, QWERTY key pad, Nimbuzz and Snaptu applications bundled in one phone. This sleek and stylish ‘flaunt-it’ phone with multimedia features and all-in-one messenger and all-in-one social networking is sure to become the cynosure amidst all urban and tech-savvy youth in the 18-30 years of age bracket (college and office going), and all who are young at heart, who’d like to use its applications on the go. We want to position it as the final word when it comes to one-stop instant messaging and social networking. It will be launched in the metros and mini-metro cities initially along with all SEC A and B class towns.”

The thing this device would be famous for is its resemblence to a BlackBerry! In fact, at first glance you would easily mistake the B430DS for a much more expensive Blackberry (actually many times). Many times? Yes, as the Blackberry look alike Fly Circle will sell at a mere Rs. 3,849.

Now for the features. What you get for your hard-earned 3,849 bucks is listed below:

  • 2.2 inch QVGA Display with 262k colors (Their website states the resolution is 176 x 220 pixels)
  • 10 MB Internal Memory
  • 1000 contact phonebook
  • microSD card support upto 8GB
  • 1.3 megapixel camera
  • Opera Mini Browser
  • SMS Blacklisting
  • FM Radio with scheduled record and play
  • Bluetooth
  • GPRS/WAP/MMS Support
  • Video Recording
  • 9 hours of talk time
  • 1100Mah Battery
  • 104 grams

That, for less than 4,000 rupees, does sound like a super deal. We’ll have to wait and watch how well this one performs to pass a verdict. But this definitely has to be the cheapest QWERTY keyboard phone in the Indian market today.
